Aldo Leopold Festival
Aldo Leopold (1887 - 1948) was an American author, scientist, ecologist, forester, conservationist, and environmentalist. He is best know for his book "A Sand County Almanac" which sold more than two million copies. Leopold vacationed in the Les Cheneaux Islands. The Aldo Leopold Festival, held each spring, honors his contributions to the area.
The festival is hosted by the Hessel School House, in partnership with the Little Traverse Conservancy, Clark Township, Michigan Sea Grant, Applecore General Store, and the Les Cheneaux Community Foundation. The festival is funded, in part, by a grant from the Les Cheneaux Area Community Foundation and our annual sponsors.
